Typography Project #2 Creating Patterns with One Letter

For this next project, the class was prompted to choose one single letter and create a pattern with the letter.

Here is the project description.

Here are some examples presented to us to give us an idea of what to do

For my project, we first had to sketch 20 concept images here

I then narrowed it down to my favorite 3

the letter “o”

My favorites between those were the letters “z” and “u”. The “z” reminded me of a brick formation, unfortunately were weren’t able to use color so I didn’t have the opportunity to take it to the full potential idea I had to make it more 3 dimensional. I also loved the “u” because it was almost as if I created a logo with one letter.

In the end I settled with the letter “u” and I modified it in order to not have as much negative space.
